Tribune Chronicle | TribToday.com

BEREA (AP) - Ohio Turnpike tolls will rise 2.7 percent next year, or a minimum of 25 cents for drivers going the length of the 241-mile turnpike.

The turnpike commission voted today to approve the increase effective Jan. 1. It would be the first of 10 annual increases to pay for highway and bridge projects in northern Ohio.

For motorists using E-ZPass, cross-state tolls would rise 25 cents to $11.50. After 10 years, it would be $14.75. The cross-state toll for truckers using E-ZPass would rise $1 to $36 next year. After a decade, the toll would be $45.75.

According to The Plain Dealer, motorists and truckers using cash or credit cards would pay more.

Cross-state tolls for cars would increase 50 cents to $17 on Jan. 1.

A portion of the pay road runs through Trumbull and Mahoning counties.
