BRISTOL - The Bristol Board of Education at a special meeting today took the first step to place a bond issue on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.
School Treasurer Mario Nero said the board is asking the county auditor to determine the exact millage needed to raise the $9.5 million local share toward a planned new high school complex.
The deadline to place an issue on the ballot is Aug. 7.
The Ohio School Facilities Commission last week approved more than $8.7 million in funding for school construction work for Bristol. The district is one of 19 from across the state that received funding from the commission, which oversees the state's school facility renovation and construction program.
The board also approved placing a 0.5-mill levy also on the ballot for custodial upkeep and maintenance of the new building.
