NILES - Bonnie G. Callihan, 74, 424 N. Chestnut Ave., lost her courageous battle with lung cancer at 6:15 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, in Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem.
Bonnie was born Sept. 15, 1938, in Greenup, Ky., the daughter of Urcel and Virgie Nichols Horsley, moving to Niles in 1956.
A true homemaker, she loved to cook and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and flower gardening. She had a love for butterflies.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Vicki Parisi of Niles, Ray (Vickie) Callihan Jr. of Niles, Shelly (Jeff) Brady of Niles, Keith (Caley) Callihan of Newton Falls and Betty Moore of Argillite, Ky.; her four brothers, Earl, Paul and Phillip, all of Greenup, and Bob of Tennessee; a sister, Phyllis Guy of Southington; her grandchildren, Katrina Chambers, with whom she made her home, Amanda Sherrill, Eric and Ashley Crislip, Kendra Moore, Bernadette Callihan and Ezra Moore; and her great-grandchildren, Shawn, Madison, Isabella, Matthew, Bradon, Jacob, Gabriella, Ava, Jason, Kayshawn, Seth and McKayla.
She was preceded in death on June 26, 2007, by her husband, O. Ray Callihan, whom she married Dec. 22, 1956; by two daughters, Sharon G. Callihan and Brenda K. Howard; a son, Tony Ray Callihan; three grandchildren, Sabrina Howard, Jason Horsley and Trevor Moore; sisters, Imogene Seybert and Wanda Nelson; and brothers, Junior and Hurtzel Horsley.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. July 20 at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, 614 Warren Ave., with Pastor John Mizgerd officiating, where friends may call for one hour prior to the service.
