MIDDLEFIELD - Pamela Sue Babb Root, 47, passed away Thursday morning, July 11, 2013, at her residence after a long battle with cancer and with her family by her side.
She was born April 27, 1966, in Claridon Township, to Leslie D. and Jean L. Swonger Babb.
Pam was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1984 graduate of Cardinal High School in Middlefield.
She married Richard D. Root on Oct. 6, 1990, in Louisville.
She was employed at Great Lakes Cheese for 11 years; was a special needs bus aide for Cardinal school district; and also a consultant for Partylite candles.
Pam enjoyed making Partylite baskets for Chinese auctions or benefits. She enjoyed watching her boys play sports and spending time with her other family members.
Pam will be dearly missed by her family and friends; her husband, Richard; two sons, Kyle and Bryan Root, both at home; stepchildren, Nathan (Kara) Root and Kristina (Ryan) Martin, both of New York; her parents, Les and Jean Babb of Middlefield; her sister, Angela (Mark D.) Miller of Harpersfield; sister-in-law, Barb (Warren) Kandel of Louisville; stepmother-in-law, Reta Root of Pennsylvania; seven nieces; two nephews; several aunts and uncles; and numerous dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Donna Root McCarthy; father-in-law, Daniel Root; maternal grandparents, Harvey Jr. and Eleanor Swonger; and paternal grandparents, Les and Elinor Babb.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Russell Funeral Service, 15670 W. High St. (state Route 87), Middlefield. Pastor Joe Trypak of Tri-county Bible Church of Madison and her nephew Jon Mark VanderWier will officiate.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made at Middlefield Banking Co. to an account set up for her sons.
