Thu. 1:06pm: Amp concert moved today

July 11, 2013
Tribune Chronicle | TribToday.com

Due to Wednesday's heavy rainfall, a concert by the Irish folk group County Mayo scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the Warren Community Amphitheatre has been moved to the Courthouse Square gazebo.

Bill Mullane of the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County said the amphitheater isn't flooded at the moment. However, Perkins Park next to the amphitheater is closed due to flooding, and the Mahoning River that runs behind it isn't expected to crest until 3 p.m. today.

Rather than wait to see how high the water might rise - and possibly deal with the mosquitoes the water will attract - FACT decided to move the concert to Courthouse Square, especially with a dry, pleasant evening forecasted.

The river is expected to recede by tomorrow morning, and the free screening of the movie "The Goonies" is expected to go on as scheduled at 9 p.m. Friday at the amphitheater, 303 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren.
