NILES - A 1-year-old girl who fell into a relative's swimming pool in Weathersfield on Thursday was released today from Akron Children's Hospital.

Jennifer Mayfield of Niles said her daughter, Chloe, is in good condition and was hospitalized overnight as a precaution and for observation.

Mayfield said she believes her daughter had been in the swimming pool at a relative's home on Ridgewood Avenue for about a minute when someone noticed the child had fallen into the water.

Weathersfield police reported they were called to the home about 3 p.m. in reference to an infant drowning. They said when they arrived, the girl was breathing and crying loudly. Paramedics at the scene indicated the child was in stable condition, according to a Weathersfield police report.
