Pilot Ken Padgett of Cortland flew out of nearby Warren Skeet Airport in Braceville. He guided the plane into the field along McClurg East Road, off state Route 534, after a carburetor problem developed. After fixing it, Padgett was able to fly the plane out of the field and return to the airport. No injuries were reported.
Padgett, center, back to camera, removes the carburetor from the engine of his airplane with the help of farmer Chuck Murphy of Newton Township, after Padgett made an emergency landing in Murphy’s field about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. Rod Kramer of Boardman, left, a friend of Padgett, provides help at the scene of the emergency landing.
