WARREN - Dennis E. York, 65, died at 3:22 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, in Cleveland.
He was born Oct. 27, 1947, in Warren, a son of Howard and Margaret Mathews York.
Dennis was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and worked as an expeditor for G.E. Ohio Lamp, where he was financial secretary of Union Local 722 for numerous years.
He attended Believers Church, loved all Cleveland, Ohio State and Harding Raiders sports, and was an avid bowler and a respected coach for boys and girls softball in the area.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Flanigan York of Warren, whom he married Dec. 24, 1994; as well as three sons, Dennis E. (Melanie) York Jr., Michael York and Timothy York, all of Warren; two daughters, Tammy York and Cheryl (Mike) DeFoor, both of Warren; eight grandchildren, Sam, John, Sarah, Cindy, Taylor, Chuckii, Zach and Alicia; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, George York of Austintown; a sister-in-law, Carol Flanigan of Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Dennis in death were his daughter, Sherry York; both parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday with Pastor Bill Carter officiating.
