Thu. 2:52pm: Concert raises funds for injured girl

June 20, 2013
Tribune Chronicle |

The Shades of Blue will play a benefit show Saturday at Packard Music Hall.

The group is known for its 1966 hit "Oh How Happy." The current incarnation of the group features Donald Revels, Charles Davis, Carlos Valverde and Stuart Avig, who sang lead with The Valadiers, the first white vocal group to record for Motown's Berry Gordy.

The show is sponsored by the Blue Knights Chapter 14, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Marissa Kay, an 8-year-old girl from Howland who suffered extensive injuries in an accident with a BobCat bulldozer in May 2012.

The concert starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at the music hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. Tickets are $20 and will be available at the door.
