WARREN - Traffic at the Youngstown Road-North Road intersection on Warren's southeast side is about to increase.
Construction is under way for a new Bottom Dollar Food at 1756 North Road and O'Reilly Auto Parts store at 4468 Youngstown Road S.E. Both are targeted for openings in late summer or fall.
Bottom Dollar Food owner and operator Delhaize America will host a job fair in Warren today, with plans to hire 50 local employees for the store, which will be its fourth in Ohio. All four are in the Youngstown-Warren area.
Delhaize America is investing $1.5 million on construction of the 18,661-square-foot building on the northeast corner of the intersection near Arby's restaurant, according to information filed with the Warren building department.
All three of the Youngstown stores opened last year, and a company spokesman said Tuesday business has been so good, the company is increasing its local presence.
"We look for opportunities where we believe customers would embrace our discount concept," said company spokesman Benny Smith. "We are very pleased with our entry into the Youngstown market... We are seeing continued growth among our customer base, and we believe we have additional opportunity to further grow our business."

Bottom Dollar's Youngstown locations include two on the city's South Side and one on the city's West Side. The company plans to open another 10 to 15 stores in the greater Pittsburgh and Youngstown areas by year's end.
Based in Salisbury, N.C., the store offers both private and national brands, fresh produce and meats at discount prices. The grocer operates 53 stores in three states, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio. The grocery chain is a sister company to Food Lion, Harveys, Hannaford Supermarkets, Reid's and Sweetbay Supermarket.
Across the busy Youngstown Road, O'Reilly Automotive is investing $455,000 on construction of a 7,225-square-foot building on the southwest side of the intersection, according to information provided by the Warren building department.
Workers were pouring concrete at the site Wednesday morning in anticipation of an opening planned for mid to late summer. The company expects to hire eight employees ranging from a full-time manager to part-time parts clerks and drivers, said Mark Merz, spokesman for the Springfield, Mo.-based company.
The fast-growing company plans to open 190 new stores nationwide this year, Merz said.
O'Reilly already operates 115 stores in Ohio, including several in the Youngstown-Warren area. Those include locations on Parkman Road, Warren; High Street, Cortland; Belmont Avenue, Girard; Mahoning Avenue, Austintown; Mahoning Avenue, Youngstown; Market Street, Youngstown; and Liberty Street, Hubbard.
