WARREN - Elmer Richard Knapp, 74, of Warren, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at his home.
He was born July 14, 1938, in Warren, a son of the late Elmer and Mary Hologan Knapp.
A veteran of the U.S Army National Guard, he was employed as a laborer at Glunt Industries. Prior to that, he worked at Van Huffel Tube for 18 years.
Elmer was a member of Howland United Methodist Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by his son, David (Joy) Knapp of Warren; grandsons, Michael (Jennifer) Knapp, Eric Knapp and Nathan Knapp; great-granddaughters, Emily, Kaitlyn and Lillyana; and a sister, Marlene Stolfus of Kansas City, Mo.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Collins Knapp, whom he married April 2, 1960; his parents; and a daughter, Melanie Knapp.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Jim Dittmar officiating.
Interment will be in Howland Township Cemetery, Howland.
