NEWTON FALLS - Laura Rose Potter Davis Farmer, 96, of Newton Falls, died at Laurie Ann Nursing Home on Monday, June 17, 2013, at of natural causes.
Laura was born March 15, 1917, in Newbury, the daughter of Henry Ford and Clara H. Pfenniger Potter.
Laura married Sylvester E. ''Babe'' Davis on March 22, 1935. She was a housewife, making their home in Newton Falls since 1938.
Together they raised their only daughter, Carol Jean.
Babe passed away on Dec. 31, 1963. She then married James D. Farmer on July 26, 1965.
Laura enjoyed crocheting, knitting and traveling with her husband, Jim. Together they saw 49 states, seven provinces of Canada and spent most of their winters in Florida. He passed away on Feb. 19,1999.
Following Jim's passing, she got reacquainted with her cousin, friend and loyal companion Ernest ''Ernie'' Pfenniger, with whom she shared her home. They supported each other through another 10 years, played thousands of games of cards, and enjoyed each other's company until Ernie passed away in 2011.
She belonged to the Newton Falls United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Circle. She was also a member of the Civil Defense in the 1950s.
Laura is survived by a daughter, Carol Jean Archer of Newton Falls; one brother, Raymond (Lois) Potter of Warren; four stepdaughters, Laru Harshman of Southington, Louise Dyer, Ethel Flower and Margaret (Russell) Klinger, and a daughter-in-law, Ella Farmer, all of Champion; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; parents; sisters, Louise (Richard/Les) York Davis and Iola (Harold) Young; and stepson, James D. Farmer Jr.
Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the James Funeral Home, where funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Calvin Mason officiating.
Burial will be at Newton Falls Cemetery.
