HOWLAND - Ann K. Sowash, 88, formerly of Warren, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Gillette Nursing Home.
Ann was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Youngstown, the daughter of Harry L and Jane O. Braden.
She was a graduate of South High School in Youngstown, Oberlin College and Case Western Reserve School of Nursing. Ann retired as a registered nurse at Cleveland University Hospital and as a trauma nurse at Hillside Hospital. She was member of First United Methodist Church in Warren, Homebuilders, Joy Circle, Monday Afternoon Club, Bridge Club, Red Cross Volunteer and Mobile Meals.
Ann is survived by her two sons, John (Marti) Sowash of Howland and Dan (Nancy) Sowash of Warren; daughter, Marsha (Bruce) Longshore of Columbus; four grandchildren, Ann Druseikis, Holly (John) Oglesby, Kristin (Zac) McKenzie and Allyson (Dan) Short; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Cosmo, Benjamin and Braden; and a niece, Kathy (Jim) Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Sowash, whom she married June 7, 1947, and passed away April 14, 2004; and two sisters, Miriam Stauffer and Leona McKee.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at First United Methodist Church on North Park Avenue, followed by a service at noon at the church with Pastor Rick Oaks officiating.
Burial will be in Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown.
