WARREN - A levy that will fund schools in Brookfield has been passed by voters by the narrowest of margins, setting up an automatic recount in the near future.
A final tally of votes from the May 7 election shows the tax issue ahead, 930 to 929.
Results will be certified 3:30 p.m. today by the Trumbull County Board of Elections. It will be then when the board will schedule the recount.
The levy was ahead after Election Day by a slim three votes - 927 to 924 - with small numbers of absentee and provisional ballots left to be counted.
The 4.85-mill levy will raise $606,000 a year and pay for the day-to-day operations of the district.
