BROOKFIELD -- Township police are investigation allegations against a high school teacher claiming he had a romantic relationship with a teenage student.
Police said they are not releasing the teacher's name because he has not been charged.
However, he could face sexual battery charges if police deem the allegations against him have merit, explained Brookfield Police Chief Dan Faustino.
Faustino said the alleged relationship was reported by a third part on May 7.
Brookfield School administrators confirmed the teacher was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. No other action by the school district has been taken, officials said.
Police said the student was 17 when the alleged relationship started about a year ago, but turned 18 last month.
