Garfield jumped to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning and defeated Grand Valley 10-2. Nick Kaiser drove in two runs helping solidify himself as the winning pitcher. Garfield will play Gilmore Academy Tuesday in the district semifinals.
Windham sprayed five hits and defeated Southeast, 7-6. Windham took the lead after scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Cameron Pozsgai and Brad Kowalski led the Bombers, each driving in two runs.
Innocenzi had two hits and five RBIs - including a three-run home run in the first inning. Hannah Petrosky added three hits, two of which were doubles. Taylor Waid picked up the win on the mound, striking out seven and allowing three hits.
Austintown Fitch rallied from behind to score three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the Falcons past Kent Roosevelt 4-2. Freshman pitcher Alex Franken recorded the win for the Falcons and received support behind the bats of Cali Mikovich and Alex Corradi who had two hits and two RBIs, respectively.
Mooney's four run second inning was enough to defeat Niles as the Cardinals went on to win 5-3. Angela Penza struck out seven and walked one as Cardinal Mooney advanced to the sectional final game against West Branch on Thursday.
Ursuline took advantage of four fifth-inning walks, scoring four runs in the inning, and defeated Labrae 7-5. Macey Gunther had a solo home run and Stephanie Ohalek drove in three runs as the Irish were able to overcome multiple-hit games from LaBrae's Kasey Rininger and Laura Hall.
