POLAND - Valer T. "Val" Luca, 84, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a 10-month battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 20, 1928, in Farrell, Pa., the son of John and Maria Manitz Luca.
Val was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a buyer, retiring from Shelley & Shelley Co. in Canton. He was a member of Holy Cross Orthodox Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Halman; three children, Cindy Danis of Plymouth, Mich., Erik of Avon and Valerie Strichek of Boardman; five grandchildren; and a brother, John V. II.
Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory in Sharon, Pa., followed by a 7 p.m. Parastas service, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Orthodox Church in Hermitage, Pa. A Masonic service will be held by Kedron Longe 389 at 3:45 p.m. Friday prior to the calling hours at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Interment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage, Pa.
