HILLSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - State police say a western Pennsylvania man earlier reported killed in a Lawrence County shooting stemming from a domestic dispute is alive but in critical condition.
Troopers from the New Castle barracks said 50-year-old Joseph Lupo had been reported dead Monday of a gunshot wound to the head in the 11:15 p.m. Sunday gunfire in Mahoning Township, about 50 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
But police said Tuesday that he was listed in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Fifty-year-old Caroline Lupo is also hospitalized at the same facility after surgery for gunshot wounds to the leg and abdomen.
Police have not said whether the two are married or who is believed to have fired the shots.
Lupo is a former Mahoning County Sheriff's deputy.
