WARREN - An Akron man told police he was stabbed while trying to change out a $20 bill for another man early this morning at Jefferson Street and Nevada Avenue S.W.
Devonte L. Wells, 20, 332 Noble Ave., said he was walking about 3:30 a.m. when a man in his 20s, wearing all black clothing, approached him and asked him for change for a $20, according to a Warren police report. The report states that Wells, not thinking anything of it, reached into his left front pants pocket for the $154 he had to give the man change.
He said that all of a sudden the man grabbed his arm, which was in his pocket, and a struggle began. Wells told police the man fled without his money and he felt blood rolling down his arm, so he knew he had been cut. Wells told police a friend gave him a ride to Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for a 7-inch laceration to his left shoulder, the report states.
