LEAVITTSBURG - Charles L. Panttila, 85, of Leavittsburg, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at his residence.
He was born March 10, 1928, in Nanty Glo, Pa., the son of the late Lila S. Panttila Sevon.
He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in 1948 and was employed as a die setter at Packard Electric, from where he retired after 42 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1948 to 1952.
Charles was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed playing baseball with Voima AC, and managed the "Phils" Little League baseball team in the middle 1970s.
He is survived by his spouse, Emma M. Kelley Panttila of Leavittsburg, whom he married on May 1, 1954; daughters, Jacqueline (Sam) Harsh of Southington, Barbara (Nino) Cavaliere of Champion and Gayle (Herb) Snowden of Vienna; son, Ed (Gina) Panttila of Cortland; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where services will be at 11 a.m. with Pastor Eugene A. Koene officiating.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
