RIDE HELD TO HONOR MEMORIES: A Ride of Silence will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday starting and ending at Warren G. Harding High School. The bicycle ride will be seven miles.
The ride is being held in memory of Garrett Wonders, Gregg Snyder, Emil Manus and Larry Furniss, as well as the more than 700 cyclists killed each year while riding. The ride is to help educate motorists that cyclists have the legal right to the road.

COMMUNITIES PLAN CLEANUPS: West Farmington village will hold a cleanup from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday on East Main Street (state Route 88) along with a tire collection. No hazardous materials will be collected.
Warren Township will hold a spring cleanup drop-off from noon to 8 p.m. Monday to May 17. Residents of the township may bring items to the township garage.

DI TEAM HOST RECYCLING DAY: Howland Township and Howland Middle School Destination Imagination is hosting a Community Electronics Recycling Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18. Electronics, such as computers, will be recycled securely.
The money from donations will go directly toward Howland Destination Imagination's travel costs as they will be competing in the Destination Imagination Global Competition from May 21 to 25 in Knoxville, Tenn.
SOAP BOX DERBY: The local soap box derby will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the West Main Street hill in Cortland. The rain date is Sunday.
CLUB HOLDS DERBY: The Hubbard Conservation Club, 1760 Wick Campbell Road, will host a Kids Fishing Derby from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for children 15 and younger. The free event is a catch and release. Entrants must bring their own bait, but prizes will be offered in a number of categories.
