What has happened to men being protectors, supporters and heroes? Why have so many men become pedophiles, rapists, murders, abusers and cowards? Yes, cowards.
It doesn't take courage to break into a home with a gun and terrorize a family. It doesn't take courage to assault an unarmed person or beat a woman. Where is the fairness in that fight? It certainly doesn't take courage to scare the life out of a child.
Yet, we continue to allow these mean, vicious cowards to walk our streets and perpetuate their venom on the vulnerable. They don't have the right to harm me because they are angry with someone who hurt them. They don't have the right to harm me because they need money to fuel a drug habit that they chose. They don't have the right to harm me for any reason.
They have an obligation to take the help that is extended in every community to make them whole again. Aren't they sick and tired of being sick and tired? Furthermore, the strong men, and there are many, should stand up and rein in their lost brothers.
If they look in the mirror and see themselves in this commentary, they should pick up a phone and ask someone who has chosen or can offer a better path for help. I hope that I am not alone, but I want to feel the protection, the support and the courage of a hero again.
