BRISTOL - Trumbull County Sheriff's Office Maj. Tom Stewart said a leak from an oil well Wednesday has been determined to be vandalism.

Stewart said investigators think it may be part of a family dispute over the distribution of money from rights from the oil well on Mahan Denman Road, which was first reported about 9:40 a.m. Wednesday.

An Ohio EPA spokesman said if charges are filed, the EPA may also file to get the costs of the cleanup reimbursed. The spokesman said the cleanup is expected to last into next week.

About 1,680 gallons of oil spilled, the spokesman said.
