Brooke Culler's two-out double in the top of the eighth inning scored Amber Ricci from second base to give Champion the win over Girard in eight innings, 4-3.
Ricci led off the inning, reaching on an error. She was sacrificed over by the next batter and the following pop up kept Ricci at second.
Girard led off the bottom of the inning with single. A fielder's choice put runners at first and second with one out and Champion walked the next runner to load the bases.
However, the Golden Flashes got out of the jam with an infield fly out, and Kayla Hunt, who struck out eight, fanned the final Girard batter.
South Range's Carly DeRose allowed one hit and struck out 18 in the Raiders 4-1 Inter Tri-County League, Upper Tier victory over Springfield. Stevie Taylor hit a line-drive home run to left field in the third, and DeRose added a triple. Sara Moretti registered two RBIs for South Range (14-2, 8-0). Nicole Siciliano recorded the only hit for the Tigers (10-6, 7-3), a solo homer in the fourth.
Alyssa Sterle scored the winning run in the 11th inning of Lordstown's 2-1 Northeastern Athletic Conference win over Ledgemont.
Sterle earned a one-out walk in the 11th, and she moved to third when Haley Toporcer singled. Toporcer also picked up the win, striking out 10 and walking two in a complete-game effort. Ledgemont's Raven Caserta struck out 18 in the loss.
Ursuline's Makayla Shore took a no-hitter into the seventh before allowing the only St. Thomas Aquinas hit of the game in an 11-2 victory. Nicole Fisher doubled in the seventh for the Knights and later scored on a passed ball. The only other base runner for St Thomas was a hit batter in the second, who also scored on consecutive wild pitches. Shore also struck out 10 with no walks and had two RBIs. The Irish bats were led by Macey Gunther's three hits, which included a double and three RBIs.
McDonald's Leigh Gatta struck out 13 batters and scattered three hits to earn the victory for McDonald, 9-0, against Wellsville. She also had three hits and three RBIs to help her own cause.
Two runs were all LaBrae needed to defeat Liberty, 2-0. In the first inning, Taylor Smith and Emily Dugan each drove in runs to lead the Vikings to the win. Dugan also had five strikeouts in picking up the victory on the mound.
April Lude hit her seventh and eighth home runs of the season, leading Western Reserve past Southern, 14-0. She was 3 for 3 with four RBIs.
Ursuline improved to 14-0 on the season with a 6-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. Harry Finelli struck out nine to get the victory.
Nate Clark struck out five batters and scattered five hits as Jackson-Milton defeated Crestview, 10-3. It's the Blue Jays' sixth victory in a row. Six Blue Jays had multiple hits in the game.
John F. Kennedy was only able to come up with one run and one hit en route to a 6-1 loss to Trinity. Trinity gathered 11 hits on the day.
Lakeview's Dave LeMasters had 11 strikeouts to lift the Bulldogs past Hubbard, 7-2.
Champion's James Naylor had two RBIs in the sixth inning and two in the seventh as Champion scored four runs in each inning to help beat Liberty, 10-3.
Bill Goodall tripled and drove in two of South Range's runs in a 3-2 Inter Tri-County League, Upper Tier victory over Springfield. The Raiders (14-3, 10-0) scored a run in the first and added the two eventual game-winners in the third. Springfield (11-4, 8-2) scored both of its runs in the seventh inning. Mason Miller improved to 4-0, pitching six innings for South Range.
Tyler Wiery didn't allow an earned run over five innings, and he also drove in three runs off three base hits in Niles' 6-1 victory over Brookfield. Wiery struck out six and walked one. He also doubled for the Red Dragons.
Girard's Tyler Alejars had three hits in a 12-8 loss to Beaver Local.
Mineral Ridge's Dan Ferguson hit his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot in the seventh in a 12-4 win over Lisbon.
McDonald's Christian Rusinowski struck out eight and Mike Raschilla had three hits in a 10-0 victory over Wellsville.
