NILES - James P. "Jim" McAlister, 40, of Niles, passed away at 4:35 a.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family after battling leukemia.
Jim was born Oct. 28, 1972, in Warren, the son of Stephen D. and Regina Woofter McAlister of Fowler.
He was a 1991 Matthews High School graduate and also graduated with a B.S. in accounting from DeVry Institute in Columbus.
Mr. McAlister worked at Packard Thomas in the Warren and Youngstown areas as a CPA. For the past 10 years, he also was currently working for First National Bank of Pennsylvania as an internal auditor.
Other than his parents, survivors include his wife, the former Deena M. Diamond, whom he married on Oct. 24, 2009; his wife's mother, Lillian Diamond of Hubbard; his two sons, Nicholas and Jacob McAlister, both of Howland; his two stepchildren, Kaitlin Chaney and her boyfriend, Michael Slater, and Tyler Chaney, all of Niles; his sister, Roxanne McAlister of Hartford; his niece and nephew, Haley Smith and Jeffrey Smith of Hartford; and many special friends.
His father-in-law, James Diamond, preceded him in death.
Family and friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fowler United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, where Pastor Daniel P. Wilson will celebrate James' life.
