NEWTON FALLS - Michael E. Gemik, 71, entered into rest Friday, April 26, 2013, with his family staying with him at the Hospice House in Poland.
Michael was born June 10, 1941, in Warren, the son of Michael and Helen Wasickanin Gemik. Micheal was a graduate of Newton Falls High School.
He enlisted in the United States Army with his overseas duty served in Germany. After his honorable discharge, Michael returned to civilian life. He would become a 40-year owner-operator of his tavern, Mike's Rendezvous, in Warren.

His pastimes included fishing, riding his motorcycles or watching sporting events on television.
On Feb. 25, 1980, Michael and Carol Kordek were united in marriage in Las Vegas.
Memories of Michael will be carried on by his family, his wife, Carol; children, Mark Gemik, Todd and Lara Hemberger and Leighanna and Michael Woolard; grandchildren, Josh, Elisa, Todd, Tyler, Mikey and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Zackary and Paxton; his sister, Barbara (Finley) Boyd; his father-in-law, Alexander Kish; and his nephews.
The family will meet with friends from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, where a service will follow at noon, with Pastor Eugene A. Koene officiating.
The Newton Falls Veterans Honor Guard will honor Michael with a military service. He will then be laid to rest in the Lutheran Cemetery in Newton Township.
The family requests that material tributes be made in memory of Michael to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
