Warren man reports he is robbed at gunpoint
WARREN - A city man told police he was robbed Friday by two men at gunpoint near West Market Street and Parkman Road.
Richard Cummins, 28, 554 Nevada Ave. S.W., told police he was walking about 7 p.m. when two men approached him, brandished a handgun and demanded money.
One of the men reached into Cummins' pocket and removed money, the report states. The report indicates Cummins suffered possible internal injuries, but it was not clear how seriously he was injured.
No other information was available.
Shots are fired at house in Warren
WARREN - A Willow Drive man reported that gunshots were fired into his residence just after midnight on Friday.
Johnny Taylor Jr., 29, 2255 Willow Drive, said shots from a rifle were fired into his house, according to police reports.
No injuries were reported. The police report contained few details about the matter. However, scanner traffic indicated that police received numerous calls in reference to shots being fired at the house.
Taylor said he did not know who fired the shots, according to the police report.
Youngstown firefighters battle suspected arsons
YOUNGSTOWN - City firefighters battled two arson fires late Thursday evening.
Crews were first called to 264 Potomac Ave. about 10:50 p.m. and found a small fire inside the living room, which was quickly put out. There was a strong smell of gasoline in the home, a report states.
Damage was listed at $1,500.
Crews were also called to 1162 Springdale Ave. about 11:05 p.m. and found a home there engulfed in flames. Firefighters concentrated on protecting neighboring buildings and the home was allowed to burn down. Damage was listed at $4,320.
Both homes were vacant, the report stated.
Fire damages Hubbard lumber yard business
HUBBARD - Officials are investigating a fire that damaged a business at a local lumber yard on Friday.
The fire started about 9:45 a.m. at the Countertop Shop, which is owned by at Babcock Lumber Company, on Mount Everett Road.
Firefighters said the building was engulfed when they arrived, and they were calling for assistance from other departments.
The fire was contained by 11 a.m., officials said.
