NEWTON FALLS - The Rev. Charles H. Davis, 71, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013.
He was born May 16, 1941, in Batavia. He was the son of Henry and Shirley Davenport Davis.
Dr. Davis attended several Bible schools and held many degrees. He received his doctorate in divinity from Ridgedale Theological Seminary in Chattanooga, Tenn.
He served the Lord for more than five decades as pastor, evangelist, television and radio minister and writer. He preached revivals and camp meetings throughout much of the country and ministered on radio and television for many years. He was a pastor at churches in Virginia, Mississippi and New York before moving back to this area.
Dr. Davis was installed as pastor of the Church of the Holy Spirit in November 2008. Prior to that, he served as an associated minister at The Warren Revival Center for 12 years. He was also employed with Infocision in Austintown.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Williams Davis; children, Charles Jr., Robin and Richard; eight grandchildren; sisters, Erma Mink and Juanita Worley, and 32 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold and Norman; and sisters, Alma Adams, Pauline Conn and Helen Hartly.
Services were held at the Warren Revival Center in Leavittsburg on Jan. 26.
He was laid to rest in North Jackson Cemetery.
