MORRISTON, Fla. Charles R. Fair, 90, passed away peacefully at 11:53 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Haven Hospice of Chiefland, Fla.
Charles was born, in Connellsville, Pa., on Sept. 29, 1922, the son of Irvin B. and Lelia M. Lowrey Fair.
He lived in Niles most of his life and moved to Florida eight years ago to be with his daughter.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired from Niles Republic Steel as a roll grinder and attended Niles Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol (Thomas Edward) Hamm, with whom he lived; two grandsons, Timothy (Shawna) Hamm of North Jackson and Thomas (Amy) Hamm of Nicholasville, Ky.; and six great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Haylee, Taylor, Shane, Tori and Olivia Hamm.
Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, the former Kathryn J. Martray, whom he married Feb. 14, 1942, and who died May 3, 2009; three brothers, Harold Fair, Merle Fair and Irving Fair; and two sisters, Thelma Fair and Gladys Ramage.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, where the funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday with Pastor Jonathan Moore officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery.
