LIMA - Joan Robertson Fox, 87, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Burton's Ridge.
She was born July 5, 1925, in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of the late George A. and Mary Evelyn Shidler Robertson.
A 1943 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, she received her bachelor's of science degree from Allegheny College and her nursing degree from St. Luke's School of Nursing, Cleveland, in 1948.
She was employed as a registered nurse, working with Lima Visiting Nurses and also working at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home for many years. She was very supportive of St. Charles School, was active in Girl Scouts and an active member of Cursillo. She was devoted to her husband, her family and enjoyed her grand- and great-grandchildren very much. Joan was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.
On Dec. 28, 1948, she married Leonard Fox, who survives in Lima. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this coming December.
She is also survived by their children, Lynn (Tom) McNeff of Houston, Mike (Pam) Fox of Lima, Marcia (Tom) Conaway of Lima, Bruce (Cindy) Fox of Columbus, Diane (Tom) Wilson of Naperville, Ill., Barb (Bob) Patterson of Sylvania and Brian (Cindi) Fox of Columbus; a daughter-in-law, Jean Fox of Sarasota, Fla.; and two brothers, George (Betty) Robertson III of Carmel, Ind., and John (Pat) Robertson of Warren. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Fox.
Family and friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church, where there will be a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Blum as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, make memorial contributions to St. Rita's Hospice.
