BRISTOLVILLE - In loving memory, Allen William Meyers, 77, passed away peacefully Monday, April 15, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born Dec. 29, 1935, in Erie, Pa., the son of the late Allen William Meyers Sr. and Mildred Gosnell Meyers Newbury.
Allen married Patricia Gilligan on June 11, 1955, and they celebrated 57 years together.
He was a graduate of Chalker High School and was employed as a maintenance mechanic for G.E. Ohio Lamp, retiring in 1993 after 40 years of service.
Allen enjoyed his family, first and foremost, and his interests included traveling, antique tool collecting, woodworking and golf. He was a member of Midwest Tool and the Ohio Tool, and was a charter member of Bristol 300 Club.
Surviving are his loving wife, Patricia Meyers of Bristolville; sons, Rick Meyers of Champion, Ron (Cheryl) Meyers of Southington and Mike Meyers of Mentor; daughters, Leigh Ann (Frank) Allen of Champion and Lisa (Greg) Journey of Chagrin Falls; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Fred Newbury.
Family and friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday with Chaplain Glenda Greene officiating.
Burial will take place in Sager Memorial Park, Bristolville.
