WARREN - Robert "Slim" J. Iannizzaro, 81, entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 4, 2013, with his family by his side.
He was born Feb. 6, 1932, in Warren, the son of Patsy and Dorothy Castellano Iannizzaro.
Slim was a lifelong resident of Warren and a graduate of St. Mary's High School and Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He married Pauline Litz on July 16, 1955. He always said it was love at first sight when he met her.
Slim was a part owner of the Original Dry Cleaners and then went on to work at Packard Electric as a foreman after graduating from college. After retiring from Packard Electric, he enjoyed working in Warren City Schools as a substitute teacher. He also enjoyed delivering meals for Mobile Meals in Trumbull County for 23 years. Slim served as a Warren City Council member during the 1960s. He was the number one fan of all his children and grandchildren at all their sporting events. He loved to play gin with his family and do the Sudoku puzzles. He always loved helping others and sharing stories about the past.
He is survived by his five daughters, Bobbi (Dennis) Leonard of Warren, Nancy (Craig) Charnas of Cortland, Julie (Rick) Wyand of Warren, Mary Beth (Randy) Crawford of Knoxville, Tenn., and Susan (John) Norman of Girard; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Joanne DeJute, Mary Pytlik, Frances (Lynn) Griffith, Frank (Rachel) Iannizzaro and Clara (Rocky) Ragazzo, along with many nieces and nephews. He will be so deeply and sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline; and a sister, Fannie Miele.
A memorial funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church, where the Rev. Bernard Schmalzried will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
