RALEIGH, N.C. - Lawrence Allan "Pap-Pap" Dailey, 64, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. He passed on with his family by his side.
He was born Nov. 9, 1948, in Warren, the son of Marian Irene Crowe and the late John Smith Dailey.
Larry was a devoted family man and a foster parent for the Methodist Home for Children for more than 20 years. He felt an obligation to care for and serve others within the community. He would often practice random acts of kindness and felt more joy is found in giving than receiving.
Other than his selfless and giving nature, Larry lived his life by a few other guiding principles. He strongly believed in karma and the golden rule. Most of all, he highly valued his family and showed his love through words, practical jokes, deeds and by example.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda Dailey; two children, Aubre (Josh) Vaughn and Addison Dailey; grandchildren Kylee and Gavin Vaughn; sisters Denise Lovold and Jennifer Robinson; nephew and nieces Michael, Lindsay and Allison Garkovich, and Laura and Rebecca Robinson; and two foster children, Ronnie Marshall and Sean Graham. Larry also leaves behind many close friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Mausoleum Chapel at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7510 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612, with Tom Jewell and Joanne VerBurg officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612.
