WARREN - Earth Angel Farm will be co-sponsoring a "Lunch'n Learn" speaker series with St. Joseph Health Center to be offered throughout spring.
Holly J. Maggiano, who volunteers as the director of Earth Angel Farm, said the free lectures will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 9 and May 14 in the Warren Room at St. Joseph Health Center.
The topics will include herbs (today), vegetables (April 9) and flowering annuals (May 14).
Maggiano said the lectures are made possible with the support of The Raymond John Wean Foundation as part of a matching grant of $4,20 from Neighborhood SUCCESS and Leadership Program.
The grant and lecture series assist Earth Angel Farm, which is a non-profit organization, support individuals with physical and developmental disabilities and those underserved in the community by offering employment, education and socialization in agricultural settings or agricultural-related settings.
The lectures are 30 minutes, with time allotted for questions. The initial opening topic was rain barrels, presented by Amy Reeher of the Soil and Water Conservation District in March.
"People need a purpose in life. Earth Angel Farm was established to fill a void in our community for highly functioning and creative individuals with physical disabilities and mild developmental disabilities. We are creating a unique work and social environment for people who would otherwise be socially isolated," Maggiano said.
