NEWTON FALLS - A local family was walking in a wooded area of the village when they stumbled upon what police are calling a mobile meth lab.

Sgt. Rick Lisum, acting police chief, said the family discovered bottles and other items police believe had been used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Lisum said investigators do not yet know who owns the materials, which were spotted early Saturday evening. He said investigators believe the materials were used recently.

"The family said they had been in that area several days before, and it wasn't there then," Lisum said.

He did not say where the lab was found or release the names of the individuals who found it.
