WARREN - Daniel Sapino Jr., 82, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his residence following a lengthy battle with ALS.
He was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Warren, the son of the late Daniel Sapino Sr. and Matilda Rek.
A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, he was owner of Sapino Music Center from 1958 to 1975 and was also employed with Ohio Motorist Association (AAA) from 1975 to 1990 as a group tour manager and enjoyed escorting tours until his retirement. Formerly, he worked for Sanitary Dairy and Mullin Manufacturing.
Daniel was a member of First United Methodist Church; Old Erie Lodge 3; Scottish Rite of Youngstown, where he was a 32nd degree Mason; American Federation of Musicians Local 118; Penn Ohio Polka Pals; and the Warren Italian American Festival Committee. He had his own band and played the accordion for 50 years.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Nancy Simon Sapino of Warren, whom he married Nov. 14, 1953.; daughter, Brenda (William) Jeffreys of Houston; son, Ronald A. (Cynthia) Sapino of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Gina and Alan Jeffreys of Houston; stepgrandchild, Brandi Hanvy of Nashville; stepgrandchild, Christopher Vance of Nashville; great-grandchild, Cody Vance of Nashville; great-grandchild, Hunter Hanvy of Nashville; and brother, Ed (Peggy) Sapino of Warren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Nick Sapino.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
