Wed. 1:09pm: Man hospitalized after tree accident

NEWTON - A man knocked unconscious while trimming a tree at 5632 Liberty Ave. has been taken by helicopter to Akron City Hospital, according to Trumbull County 911 dispatch.

The man was trimming a tree when a branch broke, hitting him and rendering him unconscious while still in the tree. Fire departments were dispatched to the site for an elevated rescue.

The man was lowered from the tree by unknown means and flown by helicopter from the Newton Falls Community Center.

The identity of the man or his condition is unknown.
