Mon., 11:46am: Officials to address Harding students about fatal crash

March 11, 2013
Tribune Chronicle |

WARREN Warren City Schools Superintendent Michael Notar and Lt. Brian Holt of the Southington post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol plan to address students at Warren G. Harding High School later today.

Notar and Holt will be addressing issues surrounding Sunday's crash on Pine Avenue that claimed the lives of six Warren teens and injured two others.

On Monday, a licensed counselor from Valley Counseling was made available in each of the 8th grade classrooms at the Willard building to help provide support for staff and students. A health professional will also be provided for students who may want to see a counselor but are not in 8th grade. In addition, guidance counselors, school liaisons and counselors from Valley will be stationed at Harding.

Two of teens were students at Willard K-8 school, two were students at Harding and one was a past student at Harding.

Troopers said a 1998 Honda Passport, driven by Alexis Cayson and containing seven passengers, was traveling south on Pine Street around 7 a.m. when it veered off the left side of the road, struck a guardrail, and rolled over onto its roof in a pond.

Two of the occupants escaped and went to a nearby residence where they called 911.

Five victims were removed from inside the SUV. A sixth victim was ejected and was located under the vehicle.
