POLAR PLUNGE TO?BENEFIT?SPECIAL?OLYMPICS: Special Olympics Ohio has been holding various Polar Plunges in the past three months throughout the state. The seventh annual Mosquito Lake Polar Bear Plunge will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Cortland.
Pre-registration is 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Cortland Moose Lodge 1012, 6400 state Route 46, Cortland. Check-in / registration is 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Saturday. Events include a costume contest at 1 p.m. and post plunge party at The Cortland Moose Lodge. Plungers will be treated to free food and a cash bar. Prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraising individuals and top fundraising team. Guests of plungers will be charged a $5 donation to attend the party.

CHURCH CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY: Church of the Living God, 1520 Sixth St. S.W. Warren, will celebrate the 56th anniversary from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Guest speakers are Pastor Georgia William of Cleveland and Pastor Edge of Warren. The Allen Starlight Singers will be rending the afternoon services and a dinner will be served at 3:30 p.m.
GROUP OFFERS GRANTS: The Trumbull Area Reading Council is offering a member grant for use in the classroom setting. A $200,000 grant will be awarded. The grant is open to the classroom teachers and reading teachers at any level who wish to implement a project to promote literacy in their classroom.

WATCH GROUP HOSTS JUDGE: The Vienna Neighborhood Watch Group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Vienna Township hall with guest speaker Trumbull County Probate Judge Thomas A. Swift. He will be speaking on the changes in regards to estates and protecting your assets.
CENTER OFFERS CLASS: The English Center, 1806 Market St., Youngstown, in collaboration with the Youngstown City Schools ABLE program, will offer free U.S. citizenship preparation classes. The program is offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 19 to May 21 Tuesdays at the Choffin Career and Technical Center, 200 E. Wood St. To register, call 330-743-5767.
NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR AWARDS: Nominations are being accepted for the Children's Advocate Award, which will be presented by Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley at the Champions for our Valley's Children celebration, which will be held on May 14 in Poland. The award is to recognize individuals and organizations throughout the Mahoning Valley who exhibit the spirit of caring and who are working to make a difference in the lives of the children of the community.

GROUP HOSTS TRIP: Project Be Somebody is hosting a casino bus trip on March 16 to the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh. The bus will be leaving from the Walmart parking lot on Elm Road in Cortland at 9 a.m. and will be returning to the Walmart parking lot around 7:30 p.m. There will be some games and give-always.
