ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Denise Paulette Renee Dubacq Wojnarski passed away peacefully one year ago, March 7th, 2012, in Ann Arbor, Mich., surrounded by her four children.
Denise was born on July 25, 1925, in France, and moved to Warren after marrying John Jurgle in 1946.
Her children were the center of her universe, Monique (Denny) Deschaine, John (Joanne) Jurgle, Nanette (Bruce) Carson and Dorian (Takako) Jurgle.
In 1976, Denise married Henry Wojnarski, and they lived happily together until 2008 when Hank passed away.
Denise had a "joie de vie" and a twinkle in her eye that lasted until the very end of her life. Even with the passing years, Denise never lost her French accent, her love of wine and good food, and her sense of adventure.
She loved singing ''La Marseillaise'' with her French friends and ''Frere Jacques'' with her American friends. Whether it was rides to Mosquito Lake, the Mocha Coffee House or Saratoga Restaurant, she made everything fun - even inspecting light bulbs at GE, where she worked for many years.
She loved her many trips back to France and never lost contact with her family there.
Meme, as she was known by children and friends everywhere, is also deeply missed by her six grandchildren and one great-grand child. Having touched the lives of many with an extraordinary charm and charisma, her memory lives on in all who knew her.
A funeral service was held March 9, 2012, at Nie Family Funeral Home in Ann Arbor, Mich.
