March 4, 2013
Tribune Chronicle |

TAMPA, Fla. -- Casey Anthony comes out of seclusion for a meeting with the creditors in her bankruptcy case in Tampa.

The bankruptcy meeting is taking place Monday.

Anthony filed for bankruptcy in Florida in late January, claiming about $1,000 in assets and $792,000 in liabilities. Court papers list Anthony as unemployed, with no recent income.

Anthony has not made any public appearances since she left jail after being acquitted in 2011 of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

The bankruptcy filing came on the same day a Florida appellate court set aside two of the four convictions she faced for lying to detectives during the investigation into her missing daughter.

Casey Anthony's mother was born Cynthia Plesea in Warren. Plesea married George Anthony in Niles in 1981, and Casey was born in 1989.

George Anthony was a Trumbull County sheriff's deputy in the mid-1980s, and later operated a car dealership in McKinley Heights. In 1987, George Anthony ran unsuccessfully for the position of Trumbull County Clerk of Courts.

The family moved to Orlando in 1989. The family still has relatives in and around Trumbull County.
