HOWLAND - Delmer R. Skaggs, 76, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at his home.
Delmer was born March 2, 1936, in Summersville, W.Va., the son of the late Herbert and Ruby Drennen Skaggs.
Mr. Skaggs was a retired tool crib manager at Delphi Packard Electric, retiring in 1999 after 44 years of service.
Delmer was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Howland, where he was a deacon. Mr. Skaggs held many positions at the church, including those in the bus ministry, shut-in ministry and outreach food ministry.
Some of his hobbies were gardening and woodworking. His greatest love was his family and his church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Louella "Lou" Roberts, whom he married Feb. 7, 1957; his daughters, Judy R. (Larry) Parsons of Canfield and Kimberly J. (Kevin) Heater of Vienna; four grandchildren, Jared and Nathan Parsons of Canfield, Krissie (Ron) Kester of Vienna and Kasey Heater of Vienna; three great-grandchildren, Kevin, Kamron and Kenzie Kester. Also surviving is a sister, Ruth (Billy E.) Waddell of Howland.
Other than his parents, those who have preceded him in death were three brothers, Herbert Jr., Dean and Darrell Skaggs.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Howland, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jerry Croyts will celebrate Delmer's life.
Family and friends may also visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Roberts-Clark Chapel, a Lane Family Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Howland Township Cemetery.
