YOUNGSTOWN - Police have suspects in a pair of hit-skips that happened on the same South Side street within a week of each other.

Detective Sgt. Patricia Garcar, head of the department's Accident Investigation Unit, said police are awaiting tests results in both cases before proceeding.

She said in both cases, police have two people of interest and investigators are trying to determine in each case who was behind the wheel at the time the accidents occurred.

About 3 a.m. Feb. 3, 23-year-old Robert Brown Jr. was killed as he was walking on Hylda Street after leaving a birthday party at a nearby bar on Market Street.

Friday, friends and family members of Brown were holding a vigil for him on Hylda when a car plowed through the participants, putting five people in the hospital.
