WARREN - U.S. Rep. Timothy J. Ryan, a Democrat, says he expects President Barack Obama to talk about innovation, entrepreneurship and a "21st century world class work force" during the State of the Union address tonight.
"He's going to be, I think, hitting all the notes for what we need in our community and I think what Ohio needs to create this economy and thrive in it," Ryan said.
Ryan, at his office in downtown Warren Tuesday, said he's hearing from the president and the president's staff that some of the speech will be about "basically ramping up and putting on steroids what we've been doing in this community and we're only going to benefit from that."
Some of the items Ryan said being done in the 13th District - parts of Trumbull, Mahoning, Portage, Stark and Summit counties - are the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, or NAMII, in Youngstown and business incubators in Youngstown, Warren and Akron.
"So from what I've heard it looks economically like this is going to be a speech the Mahoning Valley and northeast Ohio can really, really benefit from," Ryan said.
The president's address is expected to begin about 9 p.m.
