CORTLAND - Robert "Bob" Dee Lines, 71, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, Feb. 7, 2013, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
The son of Homer and Maude Miles Lines, he was born April 30, 1941, in DuBois, Pa.
On Nov. 7, 1964, he married Doris Nimmo in DuBois, Pa. The couple enjoyed 48 wonderful years of marriage before his passing.
Bob was a 1959 graduate of DuBois High School and went on to attend Penn State University, where in 1964 he earned a bachelor's degree in business. After college, he served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve until his discharge in 1971. Bob was an accountant and worked for 37 years at General Motors before his retirement in 2000. He was also a member of Cortland United Methodist Church.
He was a kind man who enjoyed spending time on his computer, woodworking and reading. He was an avid fan of Penn State football and liked to watch the Browns and the Indians play. Above all, he loved his family and the time he shared with them, especially his granddaughters.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Doris; and his three children, Robert Lines Jr. of Warren, Jennifer (Jeff) Fleischer of Cortland and Melissa Lines of Hinckley. He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Paige and Payton Fleischer; his brother, Lynn Lines; and his two sisters, Linda Lutz and Phyllis Gilbert.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Bill and Tim Lines; and his sister, Jean Snedden.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum, 3966 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, OH 44473. A service will be held immediately following the calling hours at 1 p.m. at the chapel with Pastor Dave Vensel officiating.
Arrangements were handled by Selby Funeral Home.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Robert's name to the American Cancer Society.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
