Mon. 12:51pm: Mom believes suicide linked to abuse

AUSTINTOWN - A former substitute teacher at John F. Kennedy high school said at a news conference this morning that she thinks abuse at the hand of former coach and trainer Brother Steven Baker led to the suicide of her son.

Barbara Aponte said that when other allegations of abuse by Baker first surfaced last month, she was able to figure out why her 26-year-old son Luke Bradesku killed himself in 2003.

She said she hopes other victims of Baker come forward to heal and also her son's friends who may have known of the abuse so they do not blame themselves.

Baker, who committed suicide last month, has been linked to abuse allegations at JFK and a high school on Pennsylvania.
