MASURY - George C. Mittal, 91, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Hospice House in Poland following a period of declining health.
Mr. Mittal was born Dec. 7, 1921, at home in Masury, the son of Michael and Mary Dzurichko Mittal.
George served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a private first class during World War II in the European Theater of Operations.
He retired from the former U.S. Steel Petroleum Iron Works, and was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, with whom he made his home, Marilynn Stofan of Masury; a granddaughter and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Alice A. Vagasky, and five brothers and five sisters.
Closing prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. Monday to be followed by the Celebration of Mass of Christian Burial, which will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle (St. Bernadette) Catholic Church. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Madasz Chapel of Lane Family Funeral Homes in Brookfield.
Burial will be in Brookfield Township Cemetery, where full military honors will be observed.
