YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown's Brilex Industries has completed its first order for manufactured oil and gas production equipment in a partnership with Houston-based oil and gas processing company Valerus.
Increased manufacturing brought about by the Valerus-Brilex partnership is expected to create more than 30 local jobs this year.
Brilex is manufacturing production equipment for Valerus customers in the nearby Marcellus and Utica shale plays. Manufacturing the equipment locally allows the equipment to be shipped more quickly and at reduced transportation costs.
High-pressure horizontal coalescing filters, the initial equipment manufactured in the Youngstown facility, have been tailored to meet the typical process conditions required for the Marcellus / Utica Shale plays. This order will be followed by the manufacture of separators, glycol regenerators and absorber towers, equipment that is in high demand in the region.
Brian Benyo, president of Brilex Industries, stated, "The completion of our first set of production equipment for Valerus signifies the beginning of a partnership that will benefit both the city of Youngstown through job creation and the region's unconventional gas market, which is expected to continue to grow."
"The Brilex partnership provides us with incremental manufacturing capacity to complement our existing manufacturing facilities in Louisiana and Texas, and gives our customers the benefits of a local manufacturing presence, improved speed to market and reduced transportation costs," said Nick Sajatovic, senior vice president, manufacturing and supply chain for Valerus. "In addition, customers can leverage our local expertise for comprehensive operations and maintenance service and support."
Founded in 1996, Brilex has become one of Youngstown's fastest-growing companies, establishing itself as a worldwide source for fabricating, machining, rebuilding and complete assembly.
Valerus has served the Northeast U.S. since 2009 through its operations and maintenance facilities in Smithfield, Pa., and Bridgman, Mich. The company is described as a worldwide leader in integrated oil and gas handling and processing.
