INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- After pouring in a career-high 24 points against Cleveland State on Jan. 26, Kamren Belin was named the Horizon League Newcomer of the Week, the league announced on Monday (Jan. 28).
Belin was 7 of 14 from the floor, including four 3-pointers, and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line against the Vikings. He also added five rebounds and three steals.
Against Wright State on Jan. 23, Belin scored 10 points.
Belin is averaging 12.1 points per game against Horizon League opponents.
He has scored at least 20 points in two of the last three games, including a 21-point effort at Milwaukee on Jan. 19.
Over the last three games, Belin is averaging 18.3 points per game.
Wednesday, the Penguins host Horizon League leader Valparaiso.

BROWN NAMED POY: Youngstown State senior forward Brandi Brown has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week for her efforts in leading the Penguins to wins over Cleveland State and Loyola last week.
Brown, a native of Pomona, Calif., averaged 26 points and 16.5 rebounds in the two wins last week. She earned the honor for the third time this season.
Brown had 28 points and 17 rebounds in YSUs 72-63 win at Cleveland State, YSUs first victory at the Wolstein Center since 2006. Brown then had 24 points and 16 rebounds in just 28 minutes as Youngstown State beat Loyola 75-38 for its largest margin of victory in a Horizon League game. Brown shot 50 percent from the field in the two games and broke YSUs career records for free throw makes and free throw attempts.
Brown was also named the Horizon League and High-Major Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com. The High-Major division includes teams from the Atlantic 10, the CAA, Conference USA, the Horizon League, the MAC, the Missouri Valley, the Mountain West, the WAC and the West Coast conferences.
Brown and the Penguins will play at UIC on Thursday and at Wright State on Sunday this week.
