WARREN - Alma Marlene Arvanitis, 87, entered peacefully into eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Lake Vista Nursing Home.
She was born July 17, 1925, in Smith Town, Ky., the daughter of the late Henry Grenter and the late Martha Lawson.
She married Harry Arvanitis on Aug. 26, 1950.
She was a registered nurse at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for 16 years. Alma was a member of Believers Church, member and past president of the Warren Women's Republican Association, and member and past president of the Warren Emblem Club 397. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She helped with Mobile Meals, was an avid reader and loved taking care of her flowers.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Harry Arvanitis of Warren; a daughter, Cheri (Charles) Moxley of Cortland; sons Gregory (Jeanie) Arvanitis of Marietta, Ga., and Douglas (Catherine) Arvanitis of Tampa, Fla.; and sisters Mildred Larmi of Warren, Wilma (Robert) Satterlee of West Farmington and Athlee (Edward) Bartlett of Brunswick. She will also be sadly missed by her six grandchildren, Tyler and Jordan Moxley, and Nikko, Carter, Ryan and Evan Arvanitis.
Her family would like to say that to capture the spirit and essence of Alma in words is an impossible task. Loving her family was her priority, making everyone of her family members feel as if they were the "only one" is an amazing feat. She filled our lives with her unselfish love and that will be so sadly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor Joe Cameneti will officiate. An Emblem Club Service will be held at 2:45 p.m. Sunday prior to calling hours. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
The family requests that material contributions be made in her memory to the Scholarship Fund at the Warren Emblem Club 397, P.O. Box 1791, Warren, OH 44481.
